HAPPY NATIONAL BANANA DAY!

This popular first food is such a versatile go-to in our homes that we get why it’s got its own shout-out on the calendar. Whether rolled in some crushed nuts, sliced on a sandwich, or used to sweeten up some yummy baked goods, our kids fly through a bunch of bananas each week like the monkeys they are. Then there are the weeks that our beautiful yellow bananas make their slow way towards joining the stockpile in our freezer — but we’re smoothie people, too, so that’s no tragedy. Blend up your old bananas with some milk, a scoop of yogurt, some frozen berries, and some nut butter if you’re inclined and teach your kids how to toast to the warmer weather on its way!

Check out the FOODS i EAT deck for a smoothie recipe and other fun snack-as-entertainment ideas.

Fun Fact: In American English, the 10 most frequent first words, in order, are: mommy, daddy, ball, bye, hi, no, dog, baby, woof woof, and banana.
